Leadership

Brian : Brian WhiteI am forty something (I forget now) married since 1988 to Sarah who isn't yet forty anything.  Sarah serves in the Parent and Toddlers, Worship group and helps out at Late Late Breakfast.  We have four sons who thankfully have their mother's looks. Michael now 18 and a baptised believer himself, Peter 16 also a baptised believer, Alex aged 10 and just glad to be alive and finally Joshua who is 8 and cuteness on legs.  Michael and Peter both drum and play guitar Michael plays (ocasionally)and trumpet.  We have a quiet house!   My background was in the Royal Navy (since I was 16) where I served 13 and a bit years on Submarines as a cook.  I became a Christian at 23 years of age not having gSarah Whiterown up in a Christian family.  Sarah is indirectly responsible, as it was at her Dad's baptism in 1987 that I asked Jesus into my life.  Since then we have been through four years at Spurgeon's College 1992-96 and pastored a church in Woodbridge Suffolk (Beaumont Baptist Church) between 1996-2002.  We have been here at Trafalgar Road since Jan 2003 and have found it a real home.  In 1987 on Easter Sunday evening I went to a Baptist Church in Redhill, Surrey.  That night Jesus changed my life around, I had a broken marriage, drug convictions and an undisciplined attitude to alcohol and sexual relations.  I'm not perfect now but without Jesus I might not have made it to forty something at all.  That night I found out God exists and not just that, I discovered he knew me.  He knew all I had done, been and said and he still loved me.  Since that night I have tried to help others to discover that simple life changing truth.  God is real and he really loves people.  If you are a person, you are the focus of God's love and affection, awesome isn't it.  I enjoy reading, freshwater fishing, tea, rugby, football, (Crystal Palace are the best team) films, plays, cricket, chocolate and life itself generally.
